EuroMillions lottery tickets are bought for the game which is played in nine European countries, boasts a minimum jackpot of €15 million and can accurately claim to be one of the biggest and most popular lotteries in the world. Launched in February 2004 in the UK, France and Spain, nations that participate in EuroMillions now also include Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland. EuroMillions is played every Tuesday and Friday, with draws held in Paris. Taking all prize-winning possibilities into account means that every EuroMillions ticket purchased gives the player a 1 in 13 chance of winning any EuroMillions prize.
The record Euromillions Lottery jackpot of €185 million was won by Chris and Colin Weir from Largs in Scotland on 12th July 2011 after the Jackpot Cap that had been put in place in March 2009 was reached for the first time on 8th July 2011 but failed to produce any match 5 main numbers and 2 Lucky Star winners.
