Florida Lotto Tickets

Next Draw:
Wednesday 24th October

Florida Lotto tickets can be purchased from offline lottery retailers in the Sunshine State itself, but if you don’t happen to live in Florida – or you don’t want the hassle involved in buying lottery tickets offline – you can buy Florida Lotto tickets online instead. Whether you buy Florida Lotto tickets online or offline, your odds of winning the Florida Lotto jackpot – or any other Florida Lotto prize – are exactly the same.

The Florida Lotto game was introduced to the people of Florida in 1988 with the aim of raising money for education in the state as well as providing Floridians with the chance to win a life-changing jackpot for themselves. So far the game has done extremely well in achieving those aims, and the Florida Lottery has raised more than $21 billion since the first Florida Lotto ticket was sold.

When you play a Florida Lotto ticket you need to select 6 numbers from the range 1 to 53. If your six numbers match the six that are draw in the Florida Lotto game then you win the jackpot. Smaller Florida Lotto prizes are available for those who match 5, 4 or 3 of the numbers drawn, as you will see shortly. The Florida Lotto draws themselves are held every Wednesday and Saturday and players can purchase Florida Lotto tickets for a single draw or for several consecutive draws using the same numbers.

Like the Powerball game, Florida Lotto gives players the opportunity to multiply the value of any non-jackpot prize that they win. To take advantage of this opportunity, players need to pay a little more than usual to play the XTRA feature, and this can multiply their prize by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times the regular amount. Just as useful, when a Florida Lotto player exercises the XTRA option and gets just two of the main numbers that are drawn (which would not normally be enough to win any prize) the player wins a free Florida Lotto ticket (with the XTRA feature thrown in) which effectively gives them another chance at winning the Florida Lotto jackpot next time round.

Assuming that one doesn’t exercise the XTRA option, there are four regular prize levels in the Florida Lotto game, and the overall odds of winning any prize are around 1 in 67. The requirements for winning each prize and the odds of doing so are shown in the table below:
