Mega Millions Lottery Tickets

Next Draw:
Tuesday 26th March

Mega Millions is played every Tuesday and Friday night, with jackpots that start at $40 million and which have even climbed higher than $1 billion before. The game is played in 44 U.S. states and two jurisdictions, and can also be enjoyed online around the world.

Mega Millions jackpots roll over to the following draw if nobody manages to match five main numbers plus the Mega Ball, and this means that jackpots worth hundreds of millions crop up again and again.

You play Mega Millions by selecting five main numbers from 1 to 70, plus a Mega Ball between 1 and 25. The Mega Ball is chosen from a separate machine so it is possible for the same number to appear as both a main number and the Mega Ball.

You can select your own numbers or opt for a Quick Pick if you would like to have a set randomly generated for you. Enter as many lines as you’d like and decide how many draws you wish to play. You can even subscribe on a monthly or three-month basis so that you never miss a draw.

By playing online, there is no danger of your ticket being lost, stolen or damaged. Your numbers are stored securely and you will automatically be notified of wins. .

Prizes and Odds

There are nine different ways to win prizes on Mega Millions, based on how many of the numbers you match with the numbers drawn. You must match all five main numbers plus the Mega Ball to win the jackpot. If no ticket wins the jackpot, the top prize will roll over and an even larger amount will be offered in the next draw. The jackpot will keep rolling until it is won.

If there are multiple winners of the top prize, it will be split between all the players. Jackpots can be paid out as an annuity over 29 years or in one lump sum.

Apart from the jackpot, all the other prizes are fixed amounts. Prizes start at $2 for matching just the Mega Ball, and increase to $1 million if you match the five main numbers without the Mega Ball.

The following table shows all the prizes you can win in Mega Millions, along with the odds of winning in each category. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.

Big Winners

The record for the largest Mega Millions jackpot in history is $1.53 billion and was set on 23rd October 2018. A player from South Carolina won it all, becoming the biggest winner on a single ticket for any lottery in the world.

Three tickets had previously shared the highest Mega Millions jackpot of all time, splitting $656 million in March 2012. Merle and Patricia Butler from Red Bud claimed one of the tickets, another one belonged to a syndicate of work colleagues from Milford Mill in Maryland, and the final ticket was claimed by an anonymous player from Kansas.
